What It Is

Argireline (Acetyl Hexapeptide-3) competitively inhibits the formation of the SNARE complex by mimicking the N-terminal (1–9) sequence of SNAP-25. By competing for binding at the SNARE complex, it reduces the stability of the ternary complex (SNAP-25/syntaxin/synaptobrevin) required for synaptic vesicle fusion and acetylcholine exocytosis at neuromuscular junctions. This partial inhibition of ACh release from motor neurons reduces muscle contraction force in facial expression muscles, smoothing dynamic wrinkles. It also inhibits catecholamine release and may have some indirect effects on extracellular matrix remodeling.

Weekly Timeline

Week Expected Effects
Week 1 Subtle softening of fine lines; skin feels smoother
Week 2 Early wrinkle depth reduction visible in good lighting
Week 4 Measurable reduction in expression line depth; forehead and crow's feet noticeably improved
Week 8 Maximum effect with consistent use; wrinkles at rest visibly reduced; prevention of new line deepening

Injection Technique & Reconstitution

  1. Argireline is available as a water-soluble powder or aqueous concentrate (typically 10% stock solution)
  2. Dissolve in distilled water or add directly to water phase of emulsion
  3. Mix at room temperature u2014 avoid heat above 40u00b0C
  4. Incorporate into serum or cream formulation at desired 5u201310% final concentration
  5. Store finished product in airless container; refrigerate for maximum stability
